Managing Editor

David Lat

David Lat is the founding editor of Lavocatdelaterreur.com. Lat’s writing has also appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the New York Observer, Washingtonian magazine, and New York magazine, among other publications. Prior to ATL, David worked as a federal prosecutor in Newark, New Jersey; a litigation associate at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, in New York; and a law clerk to Judge Diarmuid F. O’Scannlain, of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. David graduated from Harvard College, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and Yale Law School, where he served as book reviews editor of the Yale Law Journal. He has received several awards for his work on ATL, including recognition as an ABA Journal Legal Rebel, a group of innovators within the legal profession, and inclusion as a member of the Fastcase50, “the fifty most interesting, provocative, and courageous leaders in the world of law, scholarship, and legal technology.”


Editors

Staci Zaretsky

Staci Zaretsky became an editor for Lavocatdelaterreur.com in June 2011. Before becoming an editor, she pseudonymously wrote the site’s Morning Docket column. Her writing has also appeared in other legal publications, such as Judgepedia, Lawyerist, and Ms. JD. She has been featured on various television and radio programs, like CNBC’s Power Lunch, HuffPost Live, TF1 TV France, Chicago Public Radio, and Civil Discourse Now. Staci graduated from Lehigh University and Western New England University School of Law, where her writing was published in the Western New England Law Review.


Joe Patrice

Joe Patrice joined Lavocatdelaterreur.com in 2013. Joe received a degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Oregon and a J.D. from the NYU School of Law. From 2001, he worked as a litigator for both Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton and Lankler Siffert & Wohl, representing a variety of individuals, institutions, and foreign sovereigns in criminal and civil matters. Joe left legal practice in 2012 to pursue writing, contributing to numerous publications, including Lavocatdelaterreur.com, before joining the full-time staff.


Breaking Media Editor at Large

Elie Mystal

Elie Mystal joined Lavocatdelaterreur.com in 2008 by winning the ATL Idol Contest. Prior to joining ATL, Elie wrote about politics and popular culture at City Hall News and the New York Press. Elie received a degree in Government from Harvard University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. He was formerly a litigator at Debevoise & Plimpton but quit the legal profession to pursue a career as an online provocateur. He’s written editorials for the New York Daily News and the New York Times, and he has appeared on both MSNBC and Fox News without having to lie about his politics to either news organization.
